Solo Piano #14 (mp3)
Spent awhile trying to come up with something different for tonight’s recording, but ended up with this. Similar note pattern to stuff I’ve done in the past, and the chord progression (I-vi-IV-V/IV-iii-ii-iii) is pretty derivative, but it sounds nice enough.
Solo Piano #13 (mp3)
Something else I was playing around with this evening. I’m not sure where I keep coming up with this overly somber music. Probably a combination of the instrument itself and the fact that I can’t play very fast.
Solo Piano #12 (mp3)
Here’s an alternate version of Solo Piano #11 in A minor. Amazing how much easier it is to play this riff after taking a day off. I knocked this out in two takes, versus something like 40 for Saturday’s version.
Solo Piano #11 (mp3)
I’ve been working on basic root-fifth-octave left-hand arpeggios, so this is just that over C major with a little melody on top. SURPRISINGLY hard to get a decent recording of this, just a lot to keep track of.
Solo Piano #10 (mp3)
Dinking around on the black keys and this just fell out. I know it sounds like it’s building up to something but I assure it is not. Please don’t be disappointed.
Lullaby (Weezer) (mp3)
This is a cover of “Lullaby,” one of my favorite Weezer songs. Here’s the original for reference.
Solo Piano #8 (mp3)
Simple song, arpeggios over C / G7. If you want to hear something more complex, try “Runaway Love” by Justin Bieber ft. Raekwon and Kanye West.
Solo Piano #7 (mp3)
I’ve had this one in my head for a few days, and I spent a good hour and half playing around with it tonight. I easily could have spent twice as long on it, but once the audio started distorting in my head, I knew it was time to call it a wrap and go to bed.
The chord progression is Bmb5-Bb-F, which is a trick I might’ve stolen from the Beatles or might have just made up. I probably just made it up.
Solo Piano #6 (mp3)
Trying a little verse/chorus thing. Verse is Em/Am. Chorus is F/G with a blue note added for flavoring.
